Bhubaneswar: The beneficiaries of the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY) have been asked to complete linking of their Aadhaar number their social welfare link account.

Speaking to media, Odisha Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities minister, Ashok Panda said, “The process of disbursement of assistance along with the announced ex-gratia of Rs 1,000 has started. The district collectors have been asked to follow all COVID-19 guidelines while distributing the assistance.”

Moreover, the Chief Minister has directed to ensure no beneficiary is left out from the MBPY, Panda said, adding that, as many as 48 lakh persons in the State are availing the benefits under the scheme.

Out of the 48 lakh beneficiaries, 20 lakh are enrolled under National Social Security Scheme. Among the 20 lakh, 95 per cent have linked their Aadhaar, Panda added.

The MBPY provides financial assistance to the destitute elderly, differently-abled persons, transgenders and widows in the State.
