Rourkela: Two unidentified youths were killed after a train reportedly ran over them near Panposh railway overbridge in Rourkela on Friday morning.

As per reports, Ahmedabad-Howrah Express train that was running on its scheduled time on the track, mowed down the duo this morning while they were walking on the rail tracks near Panposh overbridge. While the exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, it is said that the youths were walking on the rail track carelessly.

Trinath Patel, the Superintendent of Police, Railways, said, " Ahmedabad-Howrah Express that crossed Panposh at 7:05 am this morning hit the two youths who were walking on the track near the overbridge."

"A written complaint in this connection has been registered by the loco-pilot of the train. And we are investigating it after registering a case of unnatural death with the GRP," added Patel.

Sources said, the identity of the deceased has not been established. The GRP is trying its best to identify them using a mobile phone that was recovered from the pocket of one of the deceased.

"It is a clear case of a train accident. However, we are waiting for the post mortem report. I will be able to shed more light on the case after that," said Patel.
