Jharsuguda: In order to evade taxes, people resort to various illegal methods little aware of the age old proverb that 'nothing is certain but death & taxes.' In one such incident, a trader in Sarbahal area of Jharsuguda, has put himself in trouble by lodging a fake complaint of cash robbery to evade taxes.

As per reports, the trader Shankar Kedia had alleged that Rs 10 lakh was looted from him by three miscreants at gunpoint from his godown in Jharsuguda on December 12 following which Town Police sealed all the borders of the district and launched an investigation.

However, during the investigation police found that Kedia had created a false narrative that he had collected Rs 10.45 lakh from some people of which Rs 10 lakh was looted.

Speaking about the case, Jharsuguda SP Ashwini Mohanty said, "The trader had lodged a false complaint of loot. Strict action will be taken against him under the relevant laws."
