Bhubaneswar: Odisha government will erect a memorial in the State Capital city to honour the fallen Covid warriors who have lost their lives battling against novel-Coronavirus in the frontline.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced this while talking with the families of departed Covid warriors through video conference.

Invoking the bravehearts who sacrificed their life serving humanity, Patnaik said, "We will never let their sacrifice go unnoticed. We will definitely win this battle against COVID19."

"2020 was a testing year for humanity. Odisha bore the brunt of this pandemic as much as anywhere else in the globe. However, we could stand tall against all adversity because of the dedication and honesty of our lakhs of COVID warriors," said Patnaik.

Assuring the family members, Patnaik said, "The State pays tribute to the hundred odd fallen COVID warriors. We owe their family big. I assure you that the families will never face any problem as long as I am here."

PK Mohapatra, Additional Chief Secretary of health Department, who was also present during Patnaik's address said, "Out of the 101 martyred COVID warriors, families of 96 warriors have already been paid an assistance of Rs 50 Lakh. The rest five families will be provided with the aid within two days."
