Odisha to be awarded for surplus food grain production

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has been selected by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare for the 'Commendation Award' under the 'Total Food Grains Category II' for the year 2016-17.

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh, through a letter to Odisha Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy, informed about the development.

The Union Minister further congratulated Odisha’s Agriculture and farmers' empowerment department and minister Maharathy for encouraging and supporting the farmers in achieving the milestone.

A cash award of Rs 1 crore will be provided along with a Citation at the ‘Krishi Unnati Mela’ likely to be held in February—March 2019.
