Bhubaneswar: Prevalence of easterly winds in the State has led to a slight rise in the mercury level in the last few days, but by this weekend night temperature across interior and coastal districts would gradually fall, the Regional Centre of the IMD here has said.

Latest forecast suggests that during the next 2-3 days there will be no large change in minimum temperature and it will be 3-4 degrees Celsius above normal temperature over the districts of Odisha and thereafter night temperature is likely to fall by 3-5 degree C over the districts of Odisha.

Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director HR Biswas informed, "A rise in minimum temperature is observed due to the impact of easterly winds. The temperature currently is 3-4 degrees above normal. There are chances of light rainfall and cloud conditions in the extreme north-west districts like Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul. Rest of the districts will experience a dry weather."

Apart from this, shallow to moderate fog conditions will be witnessed in some places like Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Boudh, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur. Similar conditions will also prevail in the coastal and interior areas of Odisha.

However, minimum/night temperature is likely to fall by 3-5 degrees in almost all the areas in the next 3-4 days.

As per the forecast, Biswas said, night temperature will drop by 3-5 degrees Celsius from 19th or 20th December. Even in the capital city of Bhubaneswar, the minimum temperature is expected to decline from the 19th of this month.
