Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Christmas celebrations, several parts of Odisha will witness severe cold wave condition, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday.

As per the latest forecast issued by IMD’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar, the minimum temperature (night temperature) in Odisha is expected to fall by 3 to 5 degree Celsius in the next 48 hours. However, there will be no large change thereafter in the next three days, the bulletin read.

At present, Odisha is reeling under intense cold wave condition which has been continuing for the past one week. Daringbadi recorded lowest minimum temperature of 12.5 degree Celsius on Thursday. Several other districts also witnessed a sharp drop in the night temperatures in the past 24 hours.

Jharsuguda district recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 13.4 degree Celsius, Sundergarh (15), Talcher (15.3), and Baripada recorded minimum temperature of 15.2 degree Celsius on Thursday.

The Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar witnessed minimum temperature of 15.8 and 17.6 degree Celsius, respectively.

IMD’s regional Centre in Bhubaneswar has also issued shallow to moderate fog alert for the districts of Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada,Kalahandi, Bolangir, Boudh, Malkangiri, Angul and Dhenkanal in the next 24 hours.
