Sonepur: Teaching could be a challenging job, but, two teachers of Binika block under Sonepur district have carved a niche for themselves in introducing unique styles in imparting lessons to students. Their initiative has been appreciated by students and others.

As per reports, one Dhanwantari Narayan Bisi of Arigaon School in Binika block uses certain musical instruments like Tabla and Harmonium to create a musical ambience in the classroom. Singing and acting is a part of his teaching, while his colleagues also lend him a supporting hand for the cause. Apart from that, he also makes his teaching session interesting with his vibrant costume.

On Dhanwantari's unique teaching style, students say that they feel classes to be very jovial learning-friendly.

"His ways of teaching is very interesting and we love it. We don’t need extra effort to remember the lessons as we feel very easy to learn them,” says one of the students.

“I don’t give too much stress on the students from class 1-5 and help them in remembering the lessons as rhymes with music and song which I feel is more beneficial for them. They remember the rhymes immediately while singing it with the musical arrangements,” says Bisi.

“Dhanwantari has a special interest to educate the students in the primary school which is praiseworthy. The teachers also have brought a computer on their own expenses for the school,” Santosh Sahoo, ABEO, Binika.

Another teacher, Kampal Panda of Balaranga Swapneswar Secondary High School under the same block is a favourite of his students. The teacher turns the teaching session interesting with his melodious voice. Apart from singing, the teacher has taken initiatives to promote digital learning by using a projector in his classroom.

Though local intellectuals have welcomed his unique teaching style as now students are showing more keenness towards education than before, they have expressed disappointment at the lack of necessary facilities at the school.

“His unique teaching methods by singing are very interesting and we love the way he sings to make the learning session simple. Also he uses projector and helps us to learn different subjects in an engaging way,” says a student.

“My focus is to make education interesting and inspire the students towards education and learn new things. I use a projector to present different subjects interestingly; be it mathematics or science. Delivering education through singing helps the students to understand the topics in a better way and raises their interest level,” says Panda.

Principal of Balaranga Swapneswar Secondary High School, Sahdeb Sahoo says, “Panda's distinctive teaching style is certainly commendable and it is his initiative to inspire more students towards education. But, lack of basic facilities and infrastructure at the school is a big hurdle for us putting future of students at stake.”
