Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday extended his gratitude towards Odisha for supplying oxygen during the ongoing fight against COVID-19.
“Out of the total increased quota of oxygen for Delhi, we have received maximum from Odisha. The freshly allotted quota may take some more days to reach Delhi. We are trying our best to airlift the same from Odisha to save time at this critical time,” Kejriwal said.
Through a tweet, Kejriwal also thanked Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who assured him of all support in facilitating lifting of oxygen quota from Odisha. Patnaik has engaged a special officer on the job, Kejriwal tweeted.
He said the enhanced quota of oxygen has started arriving at Delhi as major city hospitals are running with acute shortage of oxygen.
Kejriwal also thanked the Centre and Delhi High Court for their efforts to raise the quota of oxygen for the Capital city to fight Covid-19.
“Delhi had a daily quota of 378 MT of medical oxygen that has been increased to 480 MT by the Centre. I expressed my sincere gratitude to the Central government and Delhi Court for it,” he said adding that more supplies are needed as according to estimates, Delhi needs 700 MT of oxygen daily.
He appealed to all States to help each other and promised to provide them surplus oxygen, medicines and doctors if COVID-19 situation came under control in Delhi.
“We had imposed a six-day lock-down in Delhi. I had promised that I will not sit silent during the lockdown days rather to work round the clock to improve the health infrastructure in the national capital. We have engaged ourselves in duty to sort out shortage of oxygen and beds in hospitals during the lockdown time,” he added.
