Odisha: 'Spurned Lover' Stabs Girl’s Mother To Death

Bhawanipatna: In an unfortunate incident, a youth allegedly killed the mother of a girl he was in love with at Karlakhunta village under Kesinga police limits here in Kalahandi district on Monday.

The deceased identified as Sindhu Bag (55) faced the wrath of the youth while trying to save her daughter Ranjita from the murderous attack.

The incident took place when Ranjita along with her mother was returning from a nearby pond after having bath.

According to reports, the accused -Tilakar Naik, who is a resident of the same village had developed one-sided love affair with Ranjita. However, his love proposal was turned down by the girl.

In a fit of rage, he attacked the mother-daughter duo with a knife. Grievously injured Ranjita and her mother were rushed to Kesinga Community Health Centre (CHC) where doctors declared the mother dead. Ranjita's condition is stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, police seized the body for post-mortem and arrested the accused. Further investigation is on.
