Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sushil Kumar Lohani on Friday said a new voter list will be published in the State on January 15 next year.

A special drive for revision of the electoral roll is currently underway. Applications are being invited for deletion, inclusion of names or revision of data in the voters list. People can take advantage of the revision drive which will continue till December 15, said Lohani.

“Adults, who will have completed 18 years of age as on January 1, 2021, can fill up the Form-6 to include their name in the voter list as first-timers. The names of persons, who have changed States, do not have names in the voter list, or those having two entries can also apply for deletion,” said Lohani while addressing a press conference today.

Besides, if a candidate finds errors in voter list or in his/her voter ID, wrong residence and other mistakes he/she can apply for correction through Form-8. Similarly, those willing to delete their names from the voter list can apply through Form-7, he said.

If a person has changed his place of residence within the same Assembly constituency, they can apply under form 8 (A).The application process is being carried out in both online and offline modes, the Chief Electoral Officer said.

Senior officials further informed that, a person can apply at booth level also for necessary changes/ modifications. Applicants just need to approach booth level officers (Anganwadi workers, school teachers) and apply for any changes or modifications by filling up respective forms and providing documents pertaining to date of birth and residence proof.

Using the official website www.nvsp.in or through mobile app Voter Helpline, people can also apply online for necessary corrections.

“A two-day special drive will be launched on December 5 at booth- levels where a person can visit their nearest booths and check their names in voters' list and apply for necessary entry, deletions or corrections. All the applications will be scrutinised between December 15 and January 5 and the final voters' list for 2021 will be published on January 15 next year,” Lohani added.
