Bhubaneswar: Soon after Odisha government accorded state anthem status to Bande Utkala Janani, there was a lot of confusion regarding the style and manner in which the song should be recited.

Clearing all confusion, Odisha Culture Department today confirmed that the duration of the anthem has been fixed at 2 minutes and 11 seconds.

While speaking to OTV, Cultural Department secretary Manoranjan Panigrahi informed, "Bande Utkala Janani verse was earlier getting repeated. Now, there will be no repetition and the duration has been fixed at 2 minutes and 11 seconds. All the six verses of the song have been retained while the recitation will be in Sangeeta Sudhakara Balakrushna Das’ style.”

Meanwhile, the School and Mass Education Department has reportedly started the process to include Bande Utkala Janani into the school and college syllabuses. As the publication of books for the current academic session has already been done, the concerned department is likely to publish a new book on the same to make it available to students.

"We will try if a book on the anthem can be made available to students this year. From the next academic sesssion, it will become a part of the syllabus," said School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash.
