Malkangiri: The district administration in Odisha on Saturday dismissed a senior clerk from government service on charge of submitting fake caste certificate at the time of her recruitment.

According to official sources, district Collector Y Vijay has dismissed Lakhmipriya Behera, a lady clerk at the State welfare department, from the government service.

The Southern Revenue Commissioner had earlier ordered a probe into the case after receiving a complaint against her of forging caste certificate in order to enter into the government service.

The investigation revealed that Behera got the government service before 24 years by submitting a fake ST certificate when she actually doesn't belong to the said community.

Following her marriage to a tribal, she had applied for ST certificate and the then Junagarh Tehsildar provided her the caste certificate without any enquiry.

The district collector took action based on the investigation and terminated her service.

As per reports, Laxmipriya is yet to receive the termination letter as she is currently on leave.

According to the existing norms, if it is found that a government servant had furnished false information or produced a false certificate in order to secure appointment, he/she should not be retained in service.
