Bhubaneswar: With the detection of 594 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus infection tally in the State has risen to 3,17,239, informed the data of State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Friday. Fourteen more fatalities during the period have pushed the death toll in Odisha to 1,718.

Four deaths each were reported from Sundargarh and Angul district while two persons succumbed in Balasore and Khordha (Bhubaneswar), respectively. Nayagarh and Puri reported one death each, the State Health & Family Welfare (H &FW) Department said.

Of the fresh cases reported from 29 districts, 343 are from quarantine centres and the rest 251 were local transmission cases. Khordha reported the maximum 56 new coronavirus cases followed Cuttack and Sundargarh with 55 cases each, Bolangir (42), Mayurbhanj (42), Angul (37) and Puri (37).

The H &FW department has also shared the details of the 14 Covid patients who succumbed while undergoing treatment at various hospitals:

  1. An 87-year-old male of Angul district who was also suffering from Hypertension & CAD.
  2. A 71-year-old male of Angul district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension, CAD-ACG-STEMI.
  3. A 30-year-old female of Angul district who was also suffering from AKI.
  4. An 80-year-old female of Angul district who was also suffering from Hypertension, Hyperkalemia & Kidney Injury.
  5. A 73-year-old male of Balasore district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  6. A 54-year-old male of Balasore district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  7. A 58-year-old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & Hypothyroidism.
  8. A 63-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & CKD.
  9. A 44-year-old male of Nayagarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
  10. A 56-year-old female of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  11. A 48-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  12. A 45-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from CKD.
  13. A 45-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
  14. A 61-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension.

As of now, at least 53 patients infected with COVID-19 have died due to pre-existing ailments, said the H&FW Department.

A total of 44,980 samples were tested in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tests to 57,77,570 in Odisha. After today’s surge, the number of active cases in the state now stands at 6,629 while 3,08,839 patients have recovered from the infection so far.
