Bhubaneswar: In the wake of rising Covid-19 cases, the Odisha government on Tuesday deputed 12 OAS officers to five western districts for effective management of the situation.

While three OAS officers each have been deployed for Nuapada and Sundergarh, two officials each deputed to Bolangir, Bargarh and Sambalpur.

“The OAS officers will work under the respective District Administrations in exigency of public service for management of the COVID-19 pandemic, until further orders,” said an order issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department.

The controlling authorities of the concerned OAS officers have been asked to relieve them immediately to enable them to report before the Collector and District Magistrate of the respective western Odisha districts.

Further, the OAS officers have been directed to report before the Collector and DMs of the respective districts accordingly and submit the compliance report.

As far as the coronavirus cases in Odisha are concerned, the State reported 6,073 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. Besides, 10 patients succumbed to the virus in the State.
