Kendrapara: In a broad daylight heist, unidentified miscreants looted Rs 1 lakh from the agent of a private company at Baniamala in the district on Friday and the entire incident was caught on the CCTV camera.

The victim has been identified as one Balabhadra Panda.

According to reports, Panda had withdrawn the amount from a bank and kept the cash in a bag in his bike. He had to deposit the amount in the nearby cooperative bank. While he was having a conversation with another agent on the road, two bike-borne miscreants arrived at the spot and decamped with the cash.

The victim lodged a complaint in this regard with Kendrapara town police. The cops have started an investigation into the incident and efforts are on to identify the robbers on the basis of the CCTV footage.

Earlier on December 31 last year, unidentified miscreants had decamped with Rs 2.5 lakh from a person who was on his way to deposit the cash in AXIS Bank at Nilagiri of Balasore district.

In another similar incident on December 28, the miscreants had looted Rs 3.2 lakh after firing at a biker near Khannagar under Balasore Sadar police limits.
