Malkangiri: Cracking whip on corruption, Odisha government on Sunday suspended two officials of Kalimela Tehsil office on charges of forging land documents.

The two officials were identified as Revenue Inspector, Suresh Kumar Pujari and Junior Revenue Assistant, Dibyasingh Paikaray.

Sources said, a disciplinary proceeding against Dibyasingh Paikaray, Junior Revenue Assistant of Tehsil office, Kalimela has been contemplated under Rule 15 of OCS (CCA) Rules, 1962 for illegal settlement of 18 numbers of Government land under encroachment cases.

As per an official notification issued in this regard, the Malkangiri Collector exercised powers conferred by clause (a) of Rule 12 of OCS (CCA) Rules 1962 and placed Dibyasingh Paikaray under suspension with immediate effect.

It has been further ordered that during the period of suspension, the headquarters of Paikaray is fixed at Tehsil Office, Motu and he will not leave the headquarters without obtaining the prior permission of the authority.

Paikaray, however is entitled for payment of subsistence allowance in accordance with rule 90 of Orissa Service Code.

As per reports, corruption and irregularity was alleged in the distribution of Land Patta to 18 persons two months back. The action was taken by the district Collector after investigating the allegations.
