Bhubaneswar: With a single-day spike of 778 new coronavirus infections, Odisha’s COVID-19 tally went up to 313323 on Friday. Of the fresh cases, 446 are from quarantine, while 332 are local contact cases, informed State I&PR department.

Angul district recorded the highest 68 new cases, followed by Sundergarh (64), Khordha (61) and Balasore (61 cases).

As per government data, the death toll has jumped to 1625 with 17 more fatalities in the last 24 hours – 5 from Sundergarh, 3 from Keonjhar, 2 from Cuttack, 2 from Ganjam while one each succumbed in Khordha (Bhubaneswar), Mayurbhanj, Puri, Deogarh and Jagatsinghpur districts. The health department has also shared the details of the patients who succumbed while under treatment at hospitals during the period.

  • 29-year-old female of Keonjhar district.
  • 44-year-old male of Mayurbhanj district who was also suffering from Hypothyroidism & Hypertension.
  • 40-year-old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  • 72-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension & Diabetes Mellitus.
  • 53-year-old female of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from CKD & Old MI.
  • 78-year-old male of Sundargarh district.
  • 70-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Jaundice & Severe Anaemia.
  • 50-year-old male of Sundargarh district.

As of now, at least 53 patients infected with COVID-19 have died due to pre-existing ailments, informed the H&FW Department.
