Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 caseload in Odisha on Monday surged to 3,26,596 after 363 people tested positive for coronavirus infections, as per the data revealed by the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

The death toll rose to 1,839 with three more fatalities in the last 24 hours, informed the State Health and Family Welfare Department.

Of the new cases detected in 27 of the 30 districts of Odisha, 208 are from different quarantine centres while the remaining 155 are local contact cases. Three districts – Deogarh, Kandhamal and Rayagada, did not register any new cases during the period.

Sundargarh and Khordha districts recorded the highest 50 fresh cases each followed by Sambalpur (35), Puri (27), Cuttack (22) Angul (23) and Balasore (20), added the I & PR department.

In terms of deaths, two patients succumbed to the virus in Sundargarh while one death was reported from Kalahandi.

The H&FW department also released the details of the deceased who died while undergoing treatment at various hospitals across Odisha:

  • A 20-year-old female of Kalahandi district who was also suffering from Hepatitis.
  • A 43-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
  • A 45-year-old male of Sundargarh district.

With the fresh surge, Odisha has 3,057 active coronavirus cases, while 3,21,647 patients have so far recovered from the infection.

The state has tested 66,35,980 lakh samples for COVID-19 so far, including 32,367 on Sunday. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 4.92 per cent, said the H&FW department.
