Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Friday reported 2698 new virus cases taking its overall tally to 72718. The State's death toll due to SARS-nCoV infection also rose to 390 with 10 more patients succumbing to the disease on Friday.
Virus cases continued a downward trend in Ganjam with the district registering 162 cases. This is the first time the district has reported case numbers below 200-mark in the past several weeks.
COVID19 cases maintained a steep spike of more than 200 cases in Cuttack. 8 districts reported over 100-plus cases with Khordha witnessing the State's highest of 475 cases today. Koraput, Rayagada, Sundargarh, Balasore also reported more than 100-plus cases.

In terms of new death cases, Ganjam reported 4 deaths on Friday while Bhubaneswar reported 2.

Active cases in the State rise to 23699 while recoveries remain at 48576. The State Health Department on Friday informed that another record high of 11358 RT-PCR tests was conducted in Odisha in the last 24 hours.
