Bhubaneswar: The spread of coronavirus infection continues unabated in Odisha with the State registering 1068 new cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the total case tally to 29175.
The State also recorded five more Covid-19 related deaths, taking the total number of fatalities to 159. The deaths were reported one each from Balasore, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Malkangiri districts.

The health department further informed that a two-year-old Covid positive girl of Bhadrak district died due to Congenital Heart Disease with Cardiac failure. The number of such deaths in the State now stand at 36.

Of the total positive cases, 662 were reported from quarantine centres while 406 are local contacts, according to the State information and public relations department.
Ganjam continued to remain the worst affected with 245 new cases followed by Khurda (194), Sundargarh (112), Gajapati (88), Koraput (66) and Cuttack (61).

The active cases in the State now stand at 10,919 while 18,061 patients have so far recovered from the disease.
