Nayagarh: The Station Master at the Nayagarh railway station sustained multiple injuries after he was allegedly beaten up by a group of miscreants late on Sunday night.

The Station Master, identified as Sanjay Pradhan was thrashed by a group of around 8- 10 miscreants after he asked them not to consume liquor on the railway station premises, sources said.

The incident occurred late on Sunday night. Pradhan noticed the group consuming liquor and chit chatting in the railway station premises which is illegal as per the Railway and Excise Acts.

When he tried to dissuade them to drink and vacate the place, the ‘drunk’ miscreants allegedly turned violent and overpowered the station master before beat him black and blue. They also terrorised the other railway staff present at the spot. Before leaving the place, they ransacked the premises including offices and set fire to some equipment at the railway station.

The injured Station Master has been admitted to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital.
