Bhubaneswar: Heat wave continues to intensify in Odisha with 12 places across the State recording temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius today.

As per the data of the regional Meteorological department, Sambalpur seemed to have turned into a boiling cauldron as it recorded temperature of 44.7 degrees Celsius, the maximum across the State today.

Similarly, Sonepur recorded 44.6 degC, Bolangir 44.5 degC, Titlagarh 44 degC, Hirakud 43.7 degC, Jharsuguda 43.6 degC, Bhawanipatna 42.6 degC, Sundergarh and Malkangiri 42 degC.

This apart, Angul, Talcher and Keonjhar recorded 41.7, 41.2 and 40 degC respectively, while the twin cities of Cuttack & Bhubaneswar recorded 37.8 degC and 38.2 degC, respectively.

Meanwhile, residents of Keonjhar had some relief from the heat wave as the mercury in the area dipped following heavy rainfall triggered by Nor'wester.
