Bhubaneswar: With a single-day spike of 3615 cases, Odisha's COVID-19 tally went up to 222734 on Thursday. Of the fresh cases, 2118 patients are from quarantine, while 1497 are local contact cases, informed State I&PR department.

As many as 671 new cases were detected from Khordha district, followed by Cuttack (371), Puri (197) and Angul (188).

As per government data, the death toll has jumped to 859 with 17 more fatalities in the last 24 hours. H&FW department shared the details of the patients who succumbed while under treatment at hospitals.

  • A 65-year old female of Bhadrak district who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease, Diabetes & Hypertension.
  • An 89-year old male of Bhubaneswar.
  • A 62-year old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  • A 48-year old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension & Bronchial Asthma.
  • A 65-year old male of Bolangir district who was also suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension, Obesity.
  • An 83-year old male of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
  • A 67-year old female of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Hypertension & Asthma.
  • A 56-year old male of Dhenkanal district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  • A 64-year old male of Jagatsinghpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
  • A 43-year old female of Kalahandi district who was also suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension & Bronchial Asthma.
  • A 46-year old male of Kendrapada district who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease & Hypertension.
  • A 59-year old male of Khordha district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
  • An 86-year old male of Nayagarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  • A 71-year old female of Nayagarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension & obesity.
  • A 60-year old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  • An 80-year old male of Rayagada district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.

The total number of patients in Odisha who have recovered from the virus stands at 185700, while active case count is 36122.

Official reports reveal 49,645 samples were tested on Wednesday for COVID-19 that include 8075 RT-PCR, 41459 samples via Antigen testing, and 111 samples via Truenat testing, taking the number of samples tested cumulatively across the state to 3300644.
