Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Wednesday reported 1540 new Covid-19 cases while 12 persons succumbed to the viral infection during treatment, said the health department.

The total number of positive cases in the State now reached 285482 which include 16030 active cases and 268115 recoveries while the death toll mounted to 1284.

As per the State Information and Public Relations Department, of the fresh cases, 886 patients are from quarantine while 654 are local contact cases. Only three districts of the State recorded cases over 100- Khordha (208), Sundergarh (111) and Angul (100).

Sharing the details of Covid-19 deaths, the State Health and Family Welfare Department informed that two patients each succumbed to the infection in Khordha (Bhubaneswar), Nuapada and Jharsuguda while Nabarangpur, Puri, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Cuttack and Ganjam districts reported one death each.

As many as 36905 samples were tested in the last 24 hours taking the number of samples tested cumulatively across the State to 4422164.
