Puri: In order to thwart any security threat to the car fest, the State police has given final touches to its security blue print for the fest today. The pilgrim city will be put under 24X7 CCTV surveillance, and every details will be monitored at a special control room here.

"The entire city will remain under CCTV surveillance during the car festival. A special control room will be opened to monitor the CCTV. Crowd and traffic management are our topmost priority for the smooth conduct of the annual world famous Rath Yatra, " said Rajendra Prasad Sharma, DGP.

The DGP held a top-level review meeting on the security arrangements for the car fest at Town Hall here on Sunday.

As many as 155 platoons of police force, 2,400 home guards, 15 SP-ranked officials, 80 DSP-ranked officials and 650 sub-inspectors will be deployed to maintain law and order during the 9-day-long festival, he informed.

Besides, several teams of Orissa Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), bomb disposal teams and two Tactical Units will be stationed to meet any eventuality. Coast Guard personnel and three units of anti-terrorist teams will also be positioned to neutralise any security threat, he added.
