Odisha Police ASI Accused Of Duping Contractor

Bhubaneswar: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Air Field Police Station in Bhubaneswar has been charged with duping a contractor of Rs 7.5 lakh.

The complainant Anup Rath, claiming to be a civil contractor, has alleged that police are not taking any action against the ASI who is yet to return the money and is issuing threats instead.

According to Rath, he was asked by the ASI to build a house with an estimated budget of Rs 80 lakh in Patia area of the capital city. However after starting the construction work, the ASI allegedly stopped paying.

It is alleged that even after a complaint, no action was taken against the ASI. Rath alleged that since the accused is a cop no action is being taken against him.

"I had started construction a house for ASI Nabaghana Sahoo, but after paying Rs 13 lakh he didn't pay the pending Rs 7.5 lakh. I lodged a complaint, but he filed an anticipatory bail and is now threatening me," said Rath.

No comments could be obtained from the concerned ASI.
