Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Higher Education department has decided to conduct Plus-III Final Semester examinations between June 20 and July 24, 2020 and post-graduate (PG) final semester examinations will be conducted before August 20. These exams were postponed due to coronavirus outbreak and subsequent lockdown.

The result of UG final examinations will be declared by August 31 while the results of the PG final year examinations will be announced by September 20, a press note issued by the Department of Higher Education said.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of all university vice-chancellors held today to discuss the delay in examinations and the revised guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on commencement of the academic session. The two-hour-long video conference meeting was chaired by State Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo from the Lok Seva Bhawan.

Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting, the minister said, "The common entrance test for PG courses in all universities will be conducted between September and October 2020. After the admission is over, the classes will commence from November 2020.

A committee will prepare a blueprint and set modalities for online / e-learning programmes. A review meeting on the implementation will be taken every 15 days. The online programme will be introduced from the next academic year, the minister said.

He said offices of all universities and degree colleges across the State will start functioning from tomorrow with 1/3rd staff.

Recently, the University Grants Commission (UGC) came out with new guideline allowing Universities to chart out their own plan of action for conducting exams which were put on hold due to COVID19 outbreak and subsequent lockdown nationwide.

The apex body regulating all higher education institutions has suggested grading intermediate semester students on the basis of internal assessment of the present and previous semesters and recommended to conduct exams in July in states where the COVID19 situation has normalised.
