Bhubaneswar: After facing criticisms for severe lapses in conduct of the matriculation examination, Odisha government has now put all its focus on the smooth conduct of the +2 examination starting from March 7. As a precautionary measure to check incidents of question paper going viral on social media, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha today banned a number of items in exam centres including wrist watches.

Such decisions were taken during a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of Odisha Chief Secretary, AP Padhi at the Secretariat today.

Mass Education department Secretary, Pradipta Mohapatra today informed that elaborate plans have been made for the conduct of the Plus-II examinations in a free and fair manner.

“There will be twice as much frisking and no electronic gadgets including wrist watches and phones will be allowed inside examination halls. The wrist watches have been banned as there are some models which can snap pictures,” said Mohapatra.

Mohapatra further informed that question papers from 202 examination management hubs will be sent to examination centres on the day of the exam. Already the question papers for the first sitting examinations have been despatched.

Out of the 1091 examination centres, Close Circuit Television (CCTVs) Cameras have already been installed in 937 centres.

“As in case of matriculation examination, the board will adopt a zero tolerance policy towards copy and other malpractice by students during the examination,” Mohapatra added.
