Bhubaneswar: With the Plus-II examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Examination, Odisha (CHSE) mere days away, the exam administrators are confident of smooth and incident-free conduct of examinations this year.

In a press conference at Bhubaneswar, CHSE Chairman, Amarendra Patnaik detailed out all the modalities and preparations made for the exams.

As many as 202 examination management hubs (EMH) and 1,143 examination centres have been set up in the state and as per Patnaik, all the examination centres will be kept under CCTV surveillance.

As per the guidelines, no mobile phones and other electronic devices will be allowed inside the examination centres. All the officers, observers, squad members, officials of district administration and other personnel must surrender their mobile phones with the centre superintendent before entering the examination centre. No candidate shall be allowed to take the question paper out of the hall prior to the completion of the exam.

A two-tier security and vetting system for the examinees will be introduced by the council following reports of proxy examinees in the ongoing matriculation examination in Odisha.

After the exams, all the answer sheets are to be sealed off and handed over to the EMH observers, who will then submit it at their respective hubs.

"The Chief Secretary of Odisha has directed all the Collectors and SPs to provide adequate security at all the EMHs and exam centres to ward off any untoward incident," informed Patnaik.

"The police will accompany the EMH observers during movement of question papers and answer sheets," he added.

Shedding light on the squads formed to curb malpractice, Patnaik said, "Besides the squad formed by the CHSE, Zonal offices will also send their squads to various centres."

The Plus-II examination in Odisha will begin from March 3, 2020 and continue till March 28, 2020. A total of 3,50,800 students will appear for this year's Plus-II examinations in Odisha.
