Baripada: A newborn baby boy was found abandoned by a couple in the bushes in the premises of Morada hospital in Mayurbhanj district Sunday early morning.

The identity of the boy's parents is yet to be ascertained and the baby has been handed over to the Childline officials.

As per reports, a local man had gone to attend nature's call at around 4 am when he heard the wail of the infant and ran back to his house to inform his wife. The couple then rushed to the spot and rescued the baby from the bushes.

Later, they informed an anganwadi worker who immediately admitted the baby boy to the Morada Hospital. The doctors later referred the infant to Baripada hospital for better treatment.

"The health condition of the infant is stable. However, as the baby is underweight, the doctors have referred him to Baripada hospital for better treatment," said a nurse at Morada Hospital.

Following information, Childline officials reached Morada hospital and took the baby to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College & Hospital in Baripada where he is undergoing treatment. The health condition of the infant is stated to be stable now, said sources.
