Balasore: In an incident that showcases the deteriorating law and order situation in the State, a video where in two miscreants brandishing gun and sword at Kesharpur village under Balasore Sadar block in the district went viral on Monday.

According to reports, the village witnessed a violent clash over a trivial issue on Monday morning. The villagers had a difference of opinion over providing electricity connection to the house of a resident following which they were divided into two groups and clashed with each other.

During the clash, two miscreants, belonging to one group, came on a bike and brandished a gun and a swords and hurled abuses to terrify people of the opposite camp.

On being informed, the Balasore Sadar police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. Further investigation into the incident is underway though the armed miscreants are still at large.

“The miscreants have been identified and they will be arrested soon. They seem to be seasoned criminals,” said Prabhas Chandra Pal, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Balasore Sadar.

Earlier on December 9 last year, as many as two persons were injured when a pharmacist in an inebriated condition attacked them with a sword at Idida village under Singla police limits in the district.

The accused identified as Subasish Tudu was working as a pharmacist in the Primary Health Centre of the village.

Tudu was loitering around in the village in an inebriated condition at night. He was apparently in a bad mood over some issues and was hurling abuses at passersby. After he became further high on alcohol, he became more abusive and violent. All of a sudden he started chasing and attacking people whosoever came on his way with a sword, leaving two of them seriously injured.
