Malkangiri: Necessity is the mother of innovation, and the saying could not be proved in a better way than the case of Jatish Mistry, a resident of Malkangiri, who prefers to ride a horse instead of commuting in vehicles in the town for his daily needs.

As per reports, Jatish owns a motor cycle, but he chooses to ride his horse while moving out in the area after the implementation of Amended New Motor Vehicles Act a few months ago.

From buying ration in the market to dropping his daughter at school, Jatish uses his horse for all kinds of transport.

Speaking to OTV, Jatish says horse riding is the most economic mode of transport one can afford at this time, provided one has the animal.

“I neither require a license nor do I need to fill up the fuel tank. I just feed grass to my horse and it’s ready to gallop," said Jatish.

“Adding to its efficiency, it doesn’t attract any penalties if I do not wear a crash helmet and neither does it need a pollution certificate,” added Jatish.
