Cuttack: As strict enforcement of on-road traffic regulations resumed today despite extension of relaxation of new Motor Vehicles Act in Odisha by three more months, a man in Cuttack had to pay a penalty of Rs 6,000 after his minor son reportedly violated multiple traffic rules while driving his motorcycle.

According to sources, the minor boy hailing from Khan Nagar area in the city was caught by traffic police personnel at Madhupatna Square while riding his father's bike without possessing a licence and also without wearing a helmet. Besides, the boy was also reportedly talking over his phone when he was spotted by the cops.

The traffic personnel later called up the father of the minor and issued a challan of Rs 6,000 as total penalty amount.

“My son just came out of the home on the bike to bring some sweets. He was not wearing helmet. He does not know about the traffic rules. I admit that it’s a mistake,” Surendra Sahu, father of the minor boy said.

On the first day of the resumption of new traffic rules today, many commuters were seen paying penalties for violating traffic rules. Though Odisha government has given a relaxation of another three months to obtain necessary documents, the documents will be checked in case any vehicle user is found flouting any of the road safety provisions.
