Odisha: Man Assaults Mother-Daughter Duo Over Property Dispute, Video Goes Viral

Puri: Tension prevailed at Patasundarpur village under the Astaranga police limits in the district on Wednesday after a man brutally assaulted a mother-daughter duo from his neighbourhood over a property dispute.

A video of the barbaric attack which was captured in a mobile phone by some villagers has gone viral on the social networking sites. In the video, the man is seen mercilessly pulling the duo by their hair, kicking and punching them multiple times.

According to reports, the mother and daughter opposed the man, their immediate neighbour, when he tried to encroach a portion of their land by putting up a temporary fence. At this, the man lost his temper and assaulted both the women. Though both of them screamed for help it fell in deaf ears of the villagers who helplessly watched the brutality as onlookers.

"We have an old dispute with our neighbour over property dispute. Of late, he tried to harass with abuses. Later he tried to encroach our property. He had also attacked us many times in the past," said the victim's husband.

Both the parties have filed separate complaints in the Astaranga police station following the incident. Police have registered a case in connection with the assault and launched an investigation.
