Rourkela: Even as the parcel bomb explosion incident at Patnagarh in Bolangir is yet to fade away from our memories, another such incident has stoked concerns.

According to sources, a parcel bomb nearly killed two persons in Moga area of Bhatinda in Punjab on September 26 and the accused, who is believed to have masterminded the attack happens to be a resident of Rourkela.

The arrested accused has been identified as Raja Rejiani, a resident of Basanti Colony of Rourkela.

Sources said, Raja had a land dispute with his brother who lives in Punjab and as a part of a plan hatched to murder him, the accused had sent a bomb in a parcel through a courier. However, the bomb exploded before reaching its destination after the courier owner, who found it suspicious, opened it.

As many as two persons including the owner of the courier shop sustained critical injuries in the incident.

During the course of the probe, Punjab Police had communicated with its counterparts in Odisha. Later the Plant Site Police in Rourkela arrested the accused.

Upendra Sadhan, IIC of Plant Site Police Station said that the accused was charged under sections 307, 324, 427 of IPC.

"Punjab Police has taken the accused in Transit remand after we had arrested him," he said.
