Nabarangpur: Back-to-back incidents of loot at two separate places on Thursday night have thrown an open challenge to police in Nabarangpur.

As per reports, four miscreants attacked a businessman with a knife and looted gold and silver ornaments worth over a whopping Rs 11 lakh from him near Bharsundi village under Raighar Police limits in the district last evening.

The victim identified as Asharam Ganda sustained injuries on his stomach during the attack and was later admitted to a nearby hospital by the locals for treatment.

"I was returning home from a nearby weekly haat on my motorbike after completing work when suddenly four bike-borne masked miscreants waylaid me on Bharsundi-Chhatagada road. They abused and attacked me with a knife and later decamped with the ornaments that I had kept in a box," said Ganda.

He claimed that the anti-socials robbed him off at least 30 grams of gold and around 15 kg of silver ornaments.

Meanwhile, Raighar Police has started an investigation following an FIR by Ganda in this regard.

In another incident, unidentified miscreants attacked a trader and looted of Rs 2.50 lakh near Deuthara village under Kodinga Police limits in the district.

Jharigaon Police has also arrested four persons in connection with an attack and loot case on January 18.

The four youths had reportedly attacked a corn trader identified as Rajendra Yadav with swords and looted Rs 4 lakh from him near Chakalapadar under Jharigaon police limits in Nabarangpur district.

Yadav was on his way to a market on his motorcycle carrying the cash when three miscreants started chasing him on a bike. Later, they attacked and snatched the cash bag from him.
