Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Tuesday registered 8,216 fresh Covid-19 cases, pushing the total caseload in the State to 47,9752. As many as 4684 cases have been detected from quarantine centres while the rests of the cases (3532) are local contacts.

Odisha currently has 7,3548 active cases while 6488 patients recovered yesterday, taking the total number of recovered cases to 4,04,063.

The State also reported 15 fatalities in the last 24 hours due to the virus taking the total death toll to 2088. Khordha witnessed maximum five deaths followed by Rayagada which saw three casualties.

Sundergarh and Kalahandi districts registered two death cases each. Similarly, one patient each from Cuttack, Puri and Sonepur succumbed to the virus during the period.

With 12 71 cases, Khurda continues to remain on the top followed by Sundergarh at 636, Cuttack at 447, Puri at 402.

Similarly, Angul reported 394 cases in the last 24 hours while Sambalpur stood behind it at 385 and Bargarh 375.

Other districts which recorded above 300 cases are Jajpur (347), Nabarangpur (319), Jharsuguda(316), Bolangir (305), Balasore (302).

Nuapada district witnessed 261 new positive cases during the period followed by Nayagarh which saw 250 cases and Sonepur at 248. As many as 238 people tested positive while 232 new infections have been detected in Rayagada.

Mayurbhanj added 190 new cases while Koraput logged 133, Keonjhar saw 129, Gajapati stood at 121 and Jagatsinghpur at 106.

Districts witnessed below 100 cases are Boudh (98, Deogarh (98), Kendrapara (87), Kandhamal (77), Ganjam (69), Bhadrak (63), Dhenkanal (47).

Malkangiri district recorded minimum 32 cases in the last 24 hours.
