Odisha Launches Millet Mandi In Cut-Off Malkangiri

Malkangiri: The first millet procurement centre (mandi) was launched in the cut-off Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri district which was inaugurated by Agriculture Minister Arun Sahoo.

As per reports, the procurement centre has been established with an aim to ensure farmers get right price for their produce. Established under the Odisha Millets Mission, the procurement centre was opened at Badpada on the other side of the Gurupriya Bridge.

Speaking about the development, the Agriculture Minister said that after construction of Gurupriya Bridge in the Swabhiman area, many development works have been possible.

"The State government is focusing on how millet farmers will get the right price for their produce," said Sahoo.

Millet has many medicinal properties and leads to better health while at the same time benefitting farmers, the minister added.
