Jajpur: A grand welcome was accorded to Odia Jawan Sangram Keshari Jena who recently set a world record by displaying dare-devil stunts on moving motorcycle. Jena set the record by covering a distance of 128 km while standing backwards on a ladder atop a moving motorcycle at a show organised at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, official sources said.

Jena was taken in a huge rally after he arrived at his native village at Bari in Jajpur district earlier this week.

“I learnt the skills from Subedar Ramesh and it took me a year to master it. I used to practice for four to five hours a day and finally set the record by covering a distance of 128 kms in 4.5 hours,” said Jena.

Jena is part of the Daredevils’ Motorcycle Display Team of the Indian Army Corps of Signals. He broke the previous record of BSF’s Avdesh Singh, who rode the bike for 68 km.

“My husband is hardworking and we are happy that he achieved it. We celebrated his success in a grand manner. Everybody in the village is happy over his achievement,” said Madhusmita, wife of Jena adding that he is now preparing to break five more records.
