Berhampur: The Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), staff nurses and pharmacists, who staged a demonstration protesting the termination of their contract, withdrew their stir after assurances from the collector.

The contractual healthcare workers had alleged that they were terminated before completion of three months without any prior notice.

According to sources, the collector held discussions with the agitating workers for over an hour. Following assurances from the collector that the workers will be reinstated from Monday, the agitators called off their strike.

The District Collector gave assurance to re-engage the healthcare workers after consulting the CDMO, informed sources.

Earlier, the protesting healthcare workers had threatened to continue their agitation till their demands were fulfilled.
