Bhubaneswar: The State has a stock of as many as 17 lakh Covid-19 vaccines doses even as 22.36 lakh people including elderly and persons having co morbidity have been vaccinated so far, Health director Dr Bijay Panigrahy said.

Out of the total vaccinated people, 13.47 are eldely people and persons with co-morbidities, he said.

"The State has so far received 40 lakh vaccine doses out of which 17 lakhs are stored," Panigrahy added.

The State government has set a target to inoculate 2 lakh daily from April 1.

Districts like Angul, Bargarh, Sundergarh, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Nabarangpur and Nuapada are lagging behind in terms of vaccination against Covid-19. A review meeting will be held in this regard, he added.

The immunisation programme is being carried out at 1000 centres across the State.

Only 0.2 % vaccines waste has been reported in the State which very less in comparison to other States, Panigrahy pointed out.

An addition 9,88, 250 doses of vaccines will reach the State on April 2, he informed.
