Bhubaneswar: Beware, if you are trying to get the COVID-19 vaccine jab by submitting false co-morbid medical certificate as the government has warned of stern action against any such practice.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the State health department on Wednesday said that stringent action will be taken on detection of false medical certificate in support of specified co-morbidities for taking Covid vaccine.

It has also said that there should be proper verification by the registered medical practitioners while issuing such certificates for Covid-19 vaccination of co-morbid persons.

In the on-going phase of COVID-19 vaccination, those aged 45 years to 59 years with specified co-morbidities prescribed by the Union Health Ministry can get the vaccine, subject to certification to that effect by a Registered Medical Practitioner.

Hence, in a letter to the all the district collectors, municipal commissioners directors under health and family welfare department, superintendents of all government MCHs, all CDMO and PHOs, the health department has instructed ‘all concerned to remain vigilant against any misuse of the provisions by issue of false medical certificates’.

“While issuing the medical certificates the Medical Practitioners have to strictly follow the MoHFW guidelines. Any detection of false medical certificate will entail action against the concerned Registered Medical Practitioner as well as the person producing such false medical certificate in support of the specified co-morbidities,” the letter read.
