Odisha Govt Revises Vaccination Order For Weekend Shutdown During 14-Day Lockdown

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Monday revised its earlier order on vaccination against Covid-19 during weekend shutdowns in the State.

As per the new directive, inoculation of vaccines will continue from Monday to Saturday but will not be carried out on Sundays to make space for proper sanitization at the vaccination centres to avoid cross-contamination.

It may be mentioned here that even though the government has announced to clamp down 14-day lockdown in the State from May 5 to 19, vaccination will continue as usual as per the new directive.

Earlier the State government had ordered that vaccination drive will not be conducted on weekends.

‘In the interest of public health and containment of the spread of COVID-19 in the State, lockdown has been imposed throughout the State with effect from 5th to 19th May, 2021 (5 PM). However, there shall be complete shutdown on weekends i.e. starting from 6.00 PM of Fridays till 5.00 AM of Monday. During this lockdown & shutdown period, COVID-19 vaccination sessions shall be continued uninterruptedly in all districts from Monday to Saturday (Including Gazetted Holidays) subject to availability of vaccines,’ a directive issued by the State Health Department said.

No sessions shall be planned on Sundays & all CVCs must be property sanitized on Sunday to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 infection, the notice mentioned.

The eligible persons i.e. HCWs / FLWs / 45 years & above / 18 years & above shall be allowed to travel to CVCs in their own vehicles / Taxies / Auto Rickshaws following guidelines to that effect.

The CVC-wise due list of 2nd dose beneficiaries shall be prepared by districts and the health team shall mobilize them through telephonic contact to CVC to vaccinate them on priority, the Health department informed through the notice.
