Bhubaneswar: Considering the present Covid-19 situation in Odisha, the State School and Mass Education Department may allow conduct of intra-school class promotion examination for 9th and 11th Standards, the Special Relief Commissioner said in its new Covid-19 guidelines for the month of March 2021 on Saturday.

According to the guidelines the department may give the option of online examination to the students amid strict enforcement of Covid-19 guidelines with consent of their parents/ guardians.

The department has also been authorized to develop a detailed SOP for the reopening of the primary schools.

Earlier on February 8, Odisha government had announced reopening of schools for class IX and XI. It has been directed that the physical classroom teaching will be held for class IX and XI from 8.30 am to 10.30 am every day except Sundays. The classes for these two classes will continue till April 3.

On the other hand, in view of the sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in several States, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash had said though the Covid-19 situation is under control in the State, the government may consider for the closure of schools and lockdown will be imposed if there any situation arises.

The minister had further stated that no decision has been taken yet on the reopening of schools for class 1 to 8 in the State.
