Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has increased the monthly stipend of house surgeons of the State-run medical colleges and hospitals from Rs 20,000 to Rs 28,000.

This enhancement in the stipend of the house surgeons will be effective from January 1, 2021 and will prevail for a period of three years.

The move came after the medicos threatened agitations over the demand for hike in stipend amount. Besides, they had been reportedly working wearing black badges as a mark of protest Since January 22.
