Bhubaneswar: The State government has fastened the process of implementing the Food Security Scheme across Odisha.

Food Supplies Minister Surya Narayan Patro on Sunday said that beneficiaries who wish to be covered under the State's Food Security Scheme can apply for the same by September 4.

"Those who are eligible can apply for inclusion under the Food Security Scheme at panchayat, municipality, NAC and block offices. The last date to apply is September 4," stated Patro.

The State government is planning to include 25 lakh families under the food security scheme by October 2. "If more than 25 lakh families apply for the scheme, special arrangement will be made for inclusion of the surplus beneficiaries later," the minister added.

As per reports, the state's food security scheme will include those people who have not been benefited under the National Food Security Act. Odisha government has decided to spend Rs 220 crore towards food security scheme in the next six months i.e from October 2018 to March 2019.
