Bhubaneswar: Responding to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's letter regarding opening of a 50-bedded Ayush Hospital in Balasore, Union Minister of State for Ayush (Independent Charge) Shripad Naik blamed the Odisha government for delaying the process alleging that it is yet to submit the physical and financial progress of previously approved 50-bedded integrated Ayush Hospitals at Dhenkanal and Berhampur.

Acting on a petition submitted by Remuna MLA Gobinda Chandra Das, Dharmendra Pradhan, had on November 12, shot a letter to Naik stating, "State Government of Odisha has already submitted National Ayush Mission (NAM) action plan to Ministry of Ayush for sanction. However, the sanction order has not been released. The request is to accord sanction for opening of a 50-bedded Ayush Hospital in Balasore."

After examining the matter, Naik stated that the Ministry of Ayush had sanctioned Rs 5 crore during 2016-17 and Rs 3 crore during 2017-18 for setting up of two units of 50-bedded integrated AYUSH at Dhenkanal and Berhampur respectively.

Naik, in his letter, also mentioned that the Odisha Government has submitted a proposal of setting up of up to 50-bedded integrated Ayush Hospital at Balasore through State Annual Action Plan under NAM during the year 2018-19.

However, he stated that the State Government has not submitted the physical and financial progress of earlier approved 50-bedded integrated Ayush Hospitals.

“Therefore, Mission Directorate of National Ayush Mission has suggested that the State Government has to utilise the previous sanctioned amount and submit the progress report to the Ministry of Ayush. The State Government may project the proposal of setting up of up to 50-bedded integrated Ayush Hospital at Balasore through State Annual Action Plan as per NAM guidelines to Ministry of Ayush,” Naik wrote.

The officials of State government are yet to respond on the allegations.
