Odisha Government Reconstitutes Committee on HC Bench Demand

Bhubaneswar: Amidst the ongoing protests, Odisha government on Thursday reconstituted the committee to review various aspects for establishment of permanent benches of the Orissa High court in western and southern Odisha.

The committee will now be headed by the Development Commissioner with principal secretaries of Home, Finance, Revenue and Law departments as its members.  The special secretary of Home department will be the convener of the committee, official sources said.

Earlier, the State government had constituted the committee in March 2019 with Additional Secretary of the Home Department as its chairman.
