Kendrapara: In a heart rendering incident, a girl was seen begging justice for her 'murdered' sister by falling at the feet of Kendrapara additional collector.

The girl along with her mother, who staged a dharna in front of the collector's office demanding justice, alleged that her sister was murdered by her in-laws over dowry but the police are yet to arrest them.

"We have staged a dharna here in front of the district collector's office as my sister has been killed by her in-laws. We will continue our protest till justice is delivered," said the girl and sister of the deceased, Laxmi Priya Parida.

As per reports, the deceased Sasmita Parida was allegedly subjected to torture over dowry since her marriage to Pradyumna Thatoi of Nikiraipatna around five years ago.

Last month, on November 13, Sasmita's in-laws strangled her to death and thereafter poured poison into her mouth to represent it a case of suicide, alleged family members of the deceased.

Though Nikirai police have reportedly arrested the husband of the deceased woman in connection with the case, her family members demand immediate arrest of her mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law alleging their involvement in Sasmita’s death.

“My daughter has been murdered and her in-laws are involved in the crime. Her in-laws used to torture her for dowry. We will sit here till justice is delivered to my daughter,” said mother of Sasmita, Bhagbati Parida.

Till the last report came in, Sasmita’s family members had withdrawn dharna after getting assurance from the additional collector.
